Jordan’s first dental exam.

Today Jordan was super brave as he say in the big scary dental chair for the first time ever! Once he was in the chair he was so calm! He looked at the instruments and said, “those don’t look scary” after I had mentioned they might, but won’t hurt. He was so brave, more so than I.

It reminds me of the last time we went to the Dr for a check up & they decided to run some blood tests to see if there was anything wacky going on that could be contributing to his behavior. I was terrified that he would pass out having to give blood, but instead he say on my lap and watched the whole time saying, “cool!!!”. I couldn’t even look.

Kids are tough. Sometimes tougher than us.

Just don’t let them know that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Needless to say it was a great appointment and he didn’t have a single cavity! *go mom!* hey, I should get some praise for instilling the teeth brushing every morning and night, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s to keeping kids healthy!

Blog makeover

I’m not quite sure where to begin. So much has happened since I first created this blog. I almost want to just start over.

I’m back on Facebook, my life is chaotic, and my kids are… Hangin in there.

Rather than make this a diary, I’d like to make this blog into something more, something people will want to come back and read again, post on twitter or Facebook- but most of all, inspire.

Welcome to the new world of Liz where the world is your oyster and the possibilities are endless…..

Team Groesbeck: Post Flu.

Last weekend my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary- with the flu. It started with Jordan on Wednesday night and lasted through the weekend. He went to my mom’s on Friday night because we were going to spend our weekend alone out at the ocean or something along those lines. (We had no set plans, thank goodness.) Friday evening we went to Cattleman’s to indulge in a delicious feast away from our strict diet. It was delicious! They even had a small bottle of champagne sitting at the table for us and a quiet booth in the back of the restaurant with dim lighting. It was actually quite nice!

Saturday morning we woke up and were going to head out to the coast for the day and end the night with dinner at The Tides in Bodega, but as the morning dragged on, I started to feel worse. By noon I was vomiting and the baby was too. Poor Todd had to take care of both of us because I was useless. For the rest of the day I lay in misery, not able to keep anything down. I was so disappointed about our anniversary being ruined, but grateful that we hadn’t finalized any plans in the first place. I called my mom to have her bring Jordan home since we decided to just stay in for the weekend, but she wanted Jordan to stay anyway.

Sunday, our anniversary, I finally stopped throwing up, but the baby didn’t, and Todd started. So while I was still recovering, I became the one to take care of everyone and let me tell you, this was no easy task. Taking care of a sick family while you yourself are sick is very very difficult.

So as far as our anniversary went, we didn’t spend much time together other than laying around watching Netflix and cleaning up after the baby’s diaper accidents and projectile vomit.

The good news is this: we get to plan a whole new weekend getaway and won’t have to worry about people being sick *cross fingers*.

Tuesday Jordan went back to school, and tomorrow (friday) he has no school for a teacher work day. Lucky boy got a 3 day week! Today was picture day and I’m really excited to see how the pictures will turn out. The school used a new company this year and instead of cheesy backgrounds they actually took the pictures outside by the flowers so the background will be gorgeous!

The baby finally ate today and I’m hoping he will go back to his recent routine (before being sick) of sleeping through the night. Here’s hoping I’ll get some much needed rest tonight!

Tomorrow my sister comes home for the weekend for my niece, Macy,’s birthday on Saturday. Also, Jordan got invited to the love of his life’s bday the same day, so were hoping to go to both! Party hopping!!! Woot woot!

Well, this has been a really long post and I’m now exhausted after reading “Charlotte’s Web” with Jordan. We’ve been averaging about 1-2 books per week. We read about an hour each night and after we finish “Charlotte’s Web” we are going to start on “The Chronicle’s of Narnia” series, which I have the complete set in one book. I have never read the books all the way through and I’m so excited that Jordan loves to read like I do and I can’t wait to start this new series with him! I love reading to him and I’m finally getting to read the classics that I never read when I was younger and spending quality time with my lil (big) man.

Ok, well I guess this is all for today. Life in the Groesbeck home has been a crazy mess this week! Tomorrow calls for some cleaning and organizing that got left undone while we were all sick. Time to get back to the daily grind and get this house in order!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone and don’t forget to set your clocks forward on Saturday night!

Our 1 Year Anniversary

Tomorrow marks our first year anniversary of marriage! I can’t believe how fast this past year has gone by. My mom has taken Jordan for the weekend so Todd and I just have the baby. I was hoping we could go do something exciting or at least get away, but financially that’s not possible this year. Hopefully next year we will be able to do something really fun!ย So I am not sure what the plans are for today, but I know dinner out at the “Tides” in Bodega is at least on the schedule.

Jordan just got over the flu, which was really sad. He was throwing up and had a fever and was just exhausted. I felt so bad for him. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Now Stevie-guy has diarrhea so I don’t know if he has the flu or not too.

Anyway, everyone being sick this weekend is no fun, but we will make the best of it! Happy anniversary to my wonderful husband! I love you Todd and I’m so happy to be your wife!!! Thank you for picking me and agreeing to spend the rest of your life with me one year ago. I guess this means we are no longer newlyweds…

Weekly Update. Sunday, 9/11.

Ok. Where do I start? It’s been a busy few days over here in Casa de Groesbeck. This morning we were awakened at about 5:30 am to my Pug, Olive, barking like mad. I went out to shush her and heard this weird hissing/squawking that sounded like an injured bird. We do have wild turkeys out here, so my first thought was that maybe Olive had managed to injure one of them, seeing as she hunts anything she can find.

I went in to tell my husband about the weird noise and had him go investigate. He grabbed a flashlight and went out back to find…. a GIANT OPOSSUM!!!! I’m so glad that he went out there instead of me, because let me tell you- if Olive’s barking didn’t wake the neighborhood, my screaming sure as hell would have.

We put Olive in her kennel so she wouldn’t get hurt and then hoped the little bastard would go away on its own by morning daylight. If not, Todd opted to smash it’s head in (ew.) and I suggested calling animal control. Luckily, neither of us had to do a thing because that sucker took off after it was sure Olive wasn’t going to come and get it.

So that started the excitement for today. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday was exciting as well!!! Stevie-guy (my 8 1/2 month old baby) stood up for the first time in his crib!!! He pulled himself up and started JUMPING up and down!!! What a silly boy! I got it all on video camera, too. As soon as I get a chance I will upload it. I got pictures too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Now he thinks he is something else because he stands up everywhere. Jordan (my 6 yr old son) started walking at 10 months old. Maybe Steven will be walking by then too, if not earlier! What smart boys I have!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I watched a bit of the newscast this morning online, but it was really sad and I decided to change it and do housework instead. The house is coming along, slowly but surely. Pretty soon everything will be in order and life here won’t be so rugged.

As for our diets, Todd and I have been doing extremely well. I’ve already lost over 5 lbs in one week. I’m pretty sure that was just from cutting out soda alone, but with the way we eat now, our bodies literally burn the food up the instant we eat it. Plus we are active and exercise regularly. It’s been nice because I have more energy all around.

The bad part is that my back hurts worse after I work out or have been really active that day. The Dr’s say that it’s normal and that it will hurt more in order for it to feel better. I hope they are right.

The other bad part is that I’ve been extremely moody. I think it’s a combination of my body getting used to not having such high fatty foods anymore, a lack of caffeine and soda, and being hungry all the time. That and I’m PMS’ing. (Sorry if that was TMI.)

Overall, things are ok. We cheated and had McDonalds tonight, but I don’t care. I worked hard this week and I feel good. If the Mcdonalds makes me gain that 5 lbs back then so be it. We were tired, hungry, and for God sakes, it’s sunday night- school night. Chaos with dinner-time, getting kids ready for school, and bed time routines.

Well… I guess that’s about it for my update. I hope all of you are doing great and had a wonderful weekend. Next weekend Is mine and Todd’s anniversary, but I’m not sure what we are going to do yet.

Have a good week everyone!

Diet, Exercise, and HELL!

Today marked the beginning of a new life for me and my husband. We are taking on the world ย one day at a time with a strict diet, a regular workout routine, and a desire to lose the weight we’ve gained over the last two years.

Of course, along with diet and exercise comes- HUNGER!!!! Can I just tell you how HUNGRY I was today? I ate more food in one day than I used to eat in a week, but I was still so hungry I felt faint and weak, like I could have passed out at any minute. Our routine consists of a very, very strict diet, as mentioned before, that allows little room for any compromise. So if I feel like I’m going to faint, I probably will. (Or, i’ll just eat a banana.)

Also, there were blisters involved in the walk we took around the lake. My feet are now sore, blistered, and sad.ย But hey, in about 6 weeks I may notice a change in my figure, right? :/ No pain, no gain. Literally.

Here’s hoping we can keep up the great work and shed the poundage that came with a new baby and a new marriage.

Speaking of marriage… our 1 year wedding anniversary is coming up! Sheesh, that went by fast!

Here’s to all you people out there that are changing your lives for the better! ๐Ÿ™‚
